Pioneering Applications with FTIR & UV Spectrometers
KASSAY: More Than 30 Years of Excellence
KASSAY is a world-leading provider of gas measurement equipment and turn-key gas monitoring services. We specialize in applications using open-path and extractive FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) and UV spectrometers.
RAM2000 FTIR spectrometers have been officially qualified and certified by the USEPA’s Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program, underscoring their reliability and accuracy.
Gas concentrations are quantified in low PPB levels and can be automatically tracked, compared to alarm levels, modeled for compliance, or published to web service in real-time.
Patented hardware and software algorithms are used to deliver accurate data for process, compliance, enforcement, investigation, and research. KASSAYs flexible hardware allows for unique measurement strategies such as active, passive, extractive techniques.

KASSAY has designed, installed, and maintained fenceline and process gas monitoring systems for industrial clients worldwide, providing early warnings of chemical releases. Many of these systems deliver continuous monitoring and alarms for potentially hazardous vapors. Systems installed in California refineries comply with the requirements of Rule 1610.
KASSAY has successfully deployed these advanced systems in a wide range of locations, spanning multiple continents, including Asia, South America, Canada, the Caribbean region, the Middle East, and various sites throughout the United States. This extensive deployment highlights the global trust and recognition the RAM2000 spectrometers have earned in environmental monitoring and analysis.

how it worKS
The RAM2000 system uses an infrared source modulated by a Michelson interferometer and then transmitted by a single transmitter/receiver telescope, through the atmosphere of interest, to a retro-reflector. The retro-reflector returns the beam to the transmitter/receiver telescope, where a beamsplitter directs the beam to a sensitive, cryogenically-cooled infrared detector. The modulated signal (interferogram) is converted to a signal spectrum by the Fourier transform. Portions of the infrared spectrum gave been attenuated die the the absorption by the gaseous chemicals in the beam. The frequency spectrum is converted to an absorbance spectrum which has a linear relationship to the concentration of the chemical times of the beam pathlength. The concentration-pathlengths of the chemicals are determined from a regression analysis of the absorbance spectrum.

Open-Path FTIR Fenceline Monitoring Technology
RAM2000™ Technology integrates advanced FTIR hardware with proprietary analytical software, featured in all KASSAY FTIR spectrometers. This innovation enables continuous, highly accurate monitoring of gas chemicals, surpassing the precision of traditional methods.
Over $10 million was dedicated to developing RAM2000 technology in collaboration with the U.S. government through the DARPA-funded Technology Reinvestment Program (TRP).

Overcoming Challenges with RAM2000™ Technology
RAM2000 technology tackles key industry challenges by offering innovative solutions. It boosts efficiency, reduces downtime, and optimizes resources. Its advanced features streamline processes, enhance data accuracy, and enable smooth platform integration.

Spectral Noise
FTIR detector circuits are prone to mechanical and electrical interference. The RAM2000 system uses military-grade technology with a specialized ADC circuit that filters and digitizes signals effectively. Its pre-amplifier amplifies signals while minimizing noise. Power supplies and cables are shielded and grounded for superior noise immunity. This location offers comprehensive services to meet your needs.

Thermal Stability
FTIR signal strength can fluctuate due to changes in ambient temperature, leading to potential issues such as false positive identifications, reduced MDLs, or inaccurate concentration measurements. To address this, RAM2000 optical benches are available with optional temperature stabilization, ensuring consistent internal alignment and eliminating voltage drift. Additionally, VCSEL lasers are equipped with temperature stabilization for enhanced performance.

Analytical Algorithms
FTIR algorithms must manage rapid changes in water vapor, CO2, and other atmospheric chemicals for accurate readings. The RAM2000 Software (RMMSoft) uses patented techniques to stabilize interferogram ZPD and micro-shift mechanisms, improving water vapor peak analysis. Its adaptive background filtering (ABF) algorithms handle sudden fluctuations in atmospheric components, ensuring consistent performance.

Applications Focused on Standardization and Market Integration
For nearly 30 years, KASSAY has been the leading provider in the sales, leasing, and service of specialized open-path FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) field spectrometers. These instruments are used for identifying gaseous chemicals through gas detection and ambient air monitoring. KASSAY has successfully deployed open-path FTIR and UV systems across the globe, including in Asia, South America, Canada, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and the United States.
